These Witch Hat Cookies are the perfect spook-tacular Halloween cookie that your little toddler chef will have a blast creating. Letting them further decorate with sprinkle eyes lets them get creative and adds to the Halloween magic.
The Cooking With Toddlers recipe, Chocolate Halloween Cookies, makes the perfect cookie base for these Witch Hats.
Makes 12 decorated cookies.
Ingredients
General Directions:
- Melt chocolate chips with coconut oil in a skillet over medium-low heat, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
- Remove from heat.
- Dip Muddy Bite cone in melted chocolate. Ensure bottom of cone is fully coated.
- Place cone on top of cookie, pressing down on it to ensure cone sticks to cookie.
- Reinforce with melted chocolate if needed
- Attach sprinkle eyes with melted chocolate by adding chocolate to cone with spoon.

Beginner:
4. Help place cones on top of cookies.

Experienced:
3. Help dip Muddy Bite cone in chocolate.
- Make sure your toddler understands that the chocolate is HOT and can burn them.
4. Place cone on cookie and help to push it down to secure it.

Pro:
1. Help measure and add chocolate chips and coconut oil to skillet. Help to stir chocolate as it melts.
3. Dip Muddy Bite cone in melted chocolate, covering the bottom of cone.
4. Place cone on top of cookie and press down, with help as needed to ensure cone is secure..
6. Attach sprinkle eyes to cone.
Notes:
- Adding coconut oil to chocolate when melting helps the chocolate to be smoother and more liquid.
- If your home is too warm (we live in LA and it was 85 degrees out when we made these!) and melted chocolate does not harden, you can refrigerate cookies for 30 minutes – 1 hour. Then, store at room temperature in an air tight container.
