Gingerbread Waffles

These gingerbread waffles will make your home smell like the holidays, but also taste so good! My toddlers ate so many of these waffles. Using holiday themed waffle plates add to the festive cheer.

Ingredients
 3 eggs
  cup canola oil
 1 cup milk
 ¼ cup plain Greel yogurt
 3 tbsp molasses
 2 cups all purpose flour
  cup brown sugar
 1 tsp baking powder
 1 tsp baking soda
 pinch of salt
 1 ½ tsp cinnamon
 ¼ tsp nutmeg
 1 ½ tsp ginger

Gingerbread Waffles

General Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, vigorously whisk eggs.
  2. Add milk, oil, Greek yogurt, and molasses.
  3. Whisk until thoroughly combined.
  4. Add in flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
  5. Stir until just combined.
  6. Pre-heat waffle iron + spray with nonstick cooking spray such as canola oil.
  7. Using a laddle, pour batter onto waffle iron (follow your specific waffle iron’s instructions for amount to pour on).
  8. Close lid of waffle iron and cook until browned
  9. Repeat steps 4+5 until all of the batter is used up. Spray waffle iron as needed to prevent waffles from sticking.

Beginner:

1. With hand over hand help, whisk eggs.

2. Pour in pre-measured ingredients (with help as needed).

3. With hand over hand help, whisk ingredients to combine.

4. Pour in pre-measured ingredients (with help as needed).

5. With hand over hand help, stir ingredients to combine.

Experienced:

1. Help whisk eggs.

2. Pour in pre-measured ingredients.

3. Help whisk to combine with help as needed.

4. Pour in pre-measured ingredients.

5. Help stir to combine with help as needed.

Pro:

1. Crack eggs into mixing bowl and whisk to combine with help as needed.

2. Help to measure and pour in ingredients.

3. Whisk to combine with help as needed to ensure fully combined.

4. Help to measure and pour in ingredients.

5. Stir to combine with help as needed to ensure combined.

7. Help to laddle batter onto waffle maker (make sure your toddler understands that the waffle maker is hot!)

8. Carefully close the lid (will be hot!) and help to determine when waffle is done.

Serving Suggestion: Serve with fresh fruit and top with maple syrup of choice. I also served these with yogurt which complimented it well.
